Our Process

From start to finish, our process is completely client-focused.

That’s because we know that you’re the best judge of what’s right for you. We’ll work closely with you to develop a plan that suits your land, your lifestyle and your budget, and the collaboration continues until your home is complete.

Our design and construct procedure generally rolls out in the following eight stages.

Step 1 | Get in touch

Following your initial enquiry, Susie will start gathering more information about your project and explain how AMC works. This gives us an overview of your requirements, and allows you to decide if our service sounds right for you. If it’s a yes to both, we move on to Step 2.

Step 2 | Initial consultation

During this face-to-face meeting with Aaron and Susie, you can tell us what you’re looking for in your new home or renovation in more specific detail – everything from how you want it to look to how many bedrooms and bathrooms you need. We’ll ask you plenty of questions, such as:

  • your budget and lifestyle requirements
  • site access, topography, and orientation of your block; relevant options and potential restrictions relating to your project
  • the types of finishes (fixtures and fittings) you’d like included.

Once we’ve explored what your priorities are and ensured the wishlist aligns with the budget, we can get cracking with Step 3.

Step 3 | Design

We’ll pull the images and ideas in your head together so we can produce a cohesive (and exciting) concept plan incorporating all the elements from your brief. After you’ve had some time to decide what you do or don’t like about it, we’ll work with you to fine-tune it until it’s exactly what you had in mind. Once the design is finalised, we’ll provide:

  • a floorplan with scaled furniture, a site plan and all elevations
  • a computer-generated 3D rendering showing how your finished home will look from different angles
  • a cost analysis, so you’ll know that it’s financially viable, before things get real with Step 4.

Step 4 | Approvals and selections

We’ll handle the entire approvals process. We collate all the required documentation and submit it to council, finalise the working drawings, and collaborate with an engineer and an energy rating assessor to obtain building approval and final development approval (DA). If council has any queries, we address them on your behalf. During this stage, we’ll also help you make the final selections for the fit-out of your home, resulting in a full schedule of finishes for windows, joinery, tiling, plumbing and flooring, etc, which means we’re all set for Step 5.

Step 5 | Final price

We know that building a home is a huge financial and emotional investment for you, so we take our final pricing very seriously. We’re meticulous and methodical, and strive to achieve the perfect balance between value and quality. It’s only when you’re happy with the fixed final price, and clearly understand exactly what is and isn’t included, that you’ll sign a contract with AMC and then we can schedule Step 6.

Step 6 | Commence construction

Thanks to our extensive planning and preparation, construction rolls out seamlessly, exactly as set out in the design documentation. Aaron personally supervises the construction process, keeping you updated with what’s happening on site. We’ll be in regular contact with you throughout the build, checking in and helping you make decisions as required, right up until it’s time to lock in Step 7.

Step 7 | Handover

Construction is complete! Aaron and Susie will meet you on site to hand over the keys and officially welcome you to your new home. Aaron will walk you through the property and show you how everything works. We’ll give you a folder containing all your warranties and certificates of compliance, and might surprise you with a hamper full of locally-sourced goodies. But we’re not cutting the ties just yet, which leads to the final stage, Step 8.

Step 8 | Maintenance follow ups

You will have ongoing access to the AMC team for any maintenance requirements that may arise after handover, and three months following handover we’ll check in to see if there are any issues that need sorting out. We love this opportunity to catch up and see how you’ve settled into life in your AMC ‘forever’ home.
